🌍 Book Creator: Create your world

🎊The platform I will be introducing today is very suitable for younger children. If you are an early childhood language teacher, then I recommend you read this blog! I am sure you will learn a lot from my introduction.

🧒As a teacher of younger children, we should be aware that it is essential to develop students' creativity at this stage. Therefore, in addition to classroom input, students should be encouraged to use a variety of outputs to practice language use.

💻The platform is called Book Creator (click here to access it) and you can choose to use it on the web or on your mobile phone.

❤️‍🔥Functions of Book Creator
i) Its main function is to allow users to create their own eBooks. On Book Creator, students can add the text, images, icons and even video and audio they want to a blank eBook template. All of these steps can be decided according to the students' own preferences! For example, they can choose the shape of the eBook template they like, or they can draw freely on the "paper".

For example, one student used the computer to create a square book. Looking at its cover, we can clearly sense the theme that the student is trying to convey - that she and her family had a wonderfully whimsical Christmas.

ii) In addition, you can create a community of your own in Book Creator. This feature is designed for teachers. It allows you to create a community of your own class which only the students in the class can access and view the eBooks created by each other. This ensures that the students' work is private, while at the same time increasing the interactivity.

To do this, you need to enter Book Creator as a teacher status and the system will generate a string of codes for you. Those who enter this code will enter the same community.

iii) Finally, Book Creator supports users in exporting their work to different formats such as ibook or pdf. Using this feature, teachers can print out students' work and paste it around the classroom for display and for students to read to each other. Alternatively, an interactive lesson could be run where students are encouraged to present their work to the group on the basis of the display to practice their presentation skills.

‼️Limitations of Book Creator
As a platform with the core function of "create your own eBook", the conditions for creating a book in Book Creator are somewhat limited. For example, the choice of fonts and background colours is relatively limited and users need to provide their images before they can be inserted into the eBook. It would be much easier if Book Creator had its own repository of resources, allowing users to find the material they need in the repository.

🔆Conclusion
In conclusion, Book Creator is suitable both for giving students a creative English writing lesson and for assigning their holiday homework. The ample time will allow them the freedom to explore the platform, find their own interests and create their own unique books.

Here's a video with a more detailed introduction to Book Creator so you can gain more knowledge by watching it!

  1. Hi Yutong, I was amazed at such an interesting technology. I totally agree with you that creativity is very important for young learners, and personalizing their learning process is a really nice way to motivate them. In the real teaching and learning context I think with teacher's assistance, our learner can do a good job through this tech. They just need some guidance and would make their learning full of fun.
